Miranda Brooks grew up in her fun-loving Uncle Billy's bookshop where Billy introduced her to the joy of reading and sent her on scavenger hunts to solve intriguing mysteries.
When Miranda turns twelve, her mother and Billy have a terrible falling out and she loses touch with her uncle.
